The cover of America’s Greatest Hits, Olympia hardcore act Gag‘s recent full-length on Iron Lung Records, depicts a masked figure straddling a dirt bike, perhaps poised to turn around and charge into the background’s arid expanse. It’s a carefully composed oil painting by former bassist Scott Young—who makes a very different sort of music solo as Trans FX—of an inelegant villain whose facial expression, though obscured, must be a sneer. And now the cover art appears to have inspired the Ian Shelton-directed music video for album highlight “Pretty Boy”, which chronicles a motorcyclist’s clumsy gaffes and misbegotten stunts.
