Sacramento, CA got a lot of attention in the past few months, due to it being the setting of Greta Gerwig’s Oscar Nominated Lady Bird. Now that Oscar season is over, it’s time to turn to another Sacramento gem– three piece surf-rockers Animals in the Attic. Comprised of lead vocalist and guitarist Spencer Rakela, keyboardist and bass synthesist Clayton LaFlamme and drummer Geoff Luoma, the trio are in the midst of recording their second album, Naked in Public. This follows up their April 2016 release Half-Asleep Surf, which is also the name of their self-titled indie rock subgenre.
Most recently, they’ve released a charming beach track to welcome Spring, “Up in the Air.” Full of sun-soaked guitar riffs, the track is perfect for waking you up out of your “half asleep surf”. You can keep up with Animals in the Attic here.
