Tempest le Mans‘ first EP in two years, Apology, is the deconstruction of a relationship gone awry. The LA based indie rock band consists of frontman/songwriter Nathan Castiel, lead guitarist Jeremy McLennan, bassist Marcus Högsta, and drummer John Rockwell.
This EP is oozing with relationship experiences and themes. As stated earlier, the lyrics revolve around a relationship that ultimately failed. It is odd, however, that the lyrics are generally on the more sad side, but the music itself is upbeat and joyous. Specifically in the first track “Green Cabriolet”, where it almost feels like 90s ska. It is heard throughout the EP that Castiel was writing from the place of accepting and dealing with feelings, rather than rejecting and neglecting them. He did this by channeling these emotions into beautiful music, with sad and happy words alike laid over guitar melodies.
Apology is the perfect reintroduction of Tempest le Mans after two years, hopefully more material follows. For more about Tempest le Mans, you can visit Facebook, Bandcamp, and Soundcloud.
