The reunited Britpop stalwarts put on a stunning show for a sold-out crowd in Brooklyn

Pulp, the beloved Britpop band led by charismatic frontman Jarvis Cocker, are back in action and touring the world for the first time in over a decade. The reunited ’90s alt rockers came through Brooklyn this past week for a pair of stellar sold-out shows at the Kings Theatre. A message reading “This is a night you will remember for the rest of your life” scrolled across the screen as the band took the stage, kicking off with the powerful one-two punch of “I Spy” and “Disco 2000.”

Before playing “Do You Remember The First Time?” Cocker asked the audience if they knew when and where Pulp’s first NYC show was. The answer? September 29, 1994 at The Academy, opening for Blur. Jarvis also shared that he was afraid of Times Square back then, but that he’ll perhaps he’ll visit it while he’s in town. From there, Pulp raced through a career-spanning setlist that also included “Something Changed,” which they dedicated to former bassist Steve Mackey, who passed away last year.

For the encore, they played “Got To Have Love,” a track they’d never performed live before. “Thank you for making this a glorious day,” Cocker said to the audience before launching into final song “Glory Days.” Indeed, it was another glorious performance from one of the best live bands in the game.
