On Friday, August 7, the first ever Riot Grill Festival took place at The Regent in downtown Los Angeles. The festival was billed as “the first festival of its kind: an all-femme fest that brings together punk music, comedy, and delectable grub in celebration of LGBT rights.” The punk music was courtesy of Babes in Toyland, Le Butcherettes (who were joined by Dale Crover and Buzz Osbourne of Melvins for a cover of Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl”), Slutever (performing as a trio for the first time with drummer Patty Schemel), and The Menstruators (featuring the festival founder and chef, Nadia G).
