Anita Lester, "Man"

Post Author: Michael Brummett

Anita Lester is a cinematic singer/songwriter out of London.
When she turned 12 years old, her mother passed down her late father’s collection of classic poetry. Art had been an early passion of Lester’s, having spent the previous 2 years painting in her attic bedroom. Soon, that poetry would resonate on a much deeper level.
Years later, Anita spent time in Los Angeles writing at the truly legendary Sound City Studios — a feat in itself (Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Grateful Dead, Foreigner, Tom Petty, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Death Cab For Cutie, Arctic Monkeys).
Breaking away from her days writing, Lester is now releasing Canaanite.
The video for “Man” was directed by her brother, Yoav Lester. It was shot entirely on location while the siblings went on a pilgrimage through Israel — their birthplace and cultural homeland.
“Man” is a deeply reflective progression. The power of the emotion in Lester’s vocals is beyond energy and passion. Knowing that the song is dedicated to her father adds another level of significance to a genuinely memorable performance.
