Earlier this summer, Gabrielle Smith, aka Eskimeaux, was the subject of an Impose cover story surrounding the release of the 26-year-old New York songwriter’s new Double Double Whammy full-length, O.K. “It’s about finally feeling okay with not feeling okay,” she told Quinn Moreland in the piece. Smith was just as candidly forthcoming between songs on June 12 at The Silent Barn, when she performed a short, stripped-down set of her songs for a small crowd, providing a background for each as well. The performance was the first in a new Impose series, Small Spaces, where we’ll host intimate gatherings with our favorite artists and have them discuss the stories behind a handful of songs.
