Oakland by way of Brooklyn’s dream raving queen Vivian Moon, who you might know as Pastel Ghost presents us with her new single “POSSESSION” that takes everything you loved about classic clandestine techno party tracks with interjects a new cryptic, common era sense of new day modernity to the mix. Vivian has previously demonstrated an unrelenting prowess on her massive debut Abyss and it’s subsequent remixes where the artist finds herself in a similar nu-tek field as her elusive east coast contemporary counterpart Doss & all their progressive minded Canadian talents that dwell up north. Performing as part of the Holodeck Records showcase at SXSW on March 16; Pastel Ghost continues to materialize cryptic sounds from distant pasts that were never realized until Vivian introduced her own unique brand of dance pop that bridges together the surreal sensations of both the paranormal & the occult.
Pastel Ghost’s “POSSESSION” is a track that takes grip with a tight hold from the get-go. Vivian keeps a chorus of menacing synths scorching all surrounding toxic energy as the the more complicated rhythm & melodic key arrangements exhibit the feeling through dance music mechanisms the concept of how someone can takeover the gestalt of your being. “POSSESSION” in a similar sense draws the listener in through a barrage of various hooks that ensnare all inquiring ears into the psychic pop realm that Vivian Moon lords over as she sets out on completing her awaited second album.

A toxic person or entity wants to take you over completely; it’s the only thing that makes it feel alive. You have absolutely no control over your own body. You’re terrified by that sensation, helpless and incapable of fighting against it. Your sense of self is slowly being stripped away. Then you’re left alone, unable to recognize yourself in the mirror.
