Pie Face Girls
Raleigh, North Carolina’s Pie Face Girls are here to piss off all the haters & squares. PFG’s Dani, Tiffany & Klay could care less about your outdated political dogmas & other obsolete beliefs as they take no prisoners on their Negative Fun album Formative Years, available March 17, where the trio deals the world an unbelievable amount of chutzpah that can barely be defined. This is more than just some new anarchist craze, Pie Face Girls deliver a gift of inspiration for all the marginalized peoples of the world with a work of wonder that is sure to inspire anyone that has been snubbed & shoved to the sidelines. PFG are committed to the idea of resist & reclaim, where they take it back from the man and replace all phallocentric & xenophobic executive orders with a new world order of their very own.
Presenting the premiere for “O Piss”, Pie Face Girls take on all your favorite skronk members of the monarchy. This isn’t your older sister’s hardcore & this sure as hell ain’t no riot grrrl capitalist call—Pie Face Girls rip the sacred flannel curtain in two with the sound that smashes the rocks of Golgotha for a full rebellion that rises out of seemingly nowhere. The chord progression does not abide by the pleasantries of previously enjoyed sanitized arrangements, where the fuzz & rhythms rock & sway as the lyrics eschew the conventions of relationships (here referred to as “close calls”) where involvement means a fate worse than death & a scuzz beatdown more fierce than any of your revolutionary counter-culture NYC icons previously could muster. PFG here dunks the traditional notions of amour into a trashcan like a freshman hazing prank where the three piece calls crap connections for what they are while blowing minds with one of the most amazing hellbound chord collections you are going to hear for a long time. Join us after the following debut of “O Piss” for a roundtable interview discussion with Pie Face Girls’ Dani, Tiffany & Klay.
Interested in hearing reflection on the inspirations & inciting incidents that informed “O Piss”.
Dani wrote the lyrics on a lover’s back porch. Love songs aren’t relatable. Honestly, love is fucked. It can make you do things you hate. With this song we decided to be painstakingly honest about those nasty feelings love tends to illicit. Embrace it.
Insights about the making of Formative Years & what you all took away from that process?
Dani: I learned how lucky I am to be in a band with my 2 best friends. Being in a band is a very intimate thing. You’re allowing yourself to be artistically vulnerable and hoping that your bandmates understand where you’re coming from and are on the same page. And if they’re not, you hope that you can get through it without causing the whole thing to combust. I’ve never had to worry about those things with Tiff and Klay. I’ve always known that they would support me and I them, and if we didn’t agree on issues or creative endeavors we’d have it out and then get over it. This allows for growth.
Tiffany: I learned that it is ok to let your sound and your identity as a band evolve, even when it turns into something you didn’t expect. We never set boundaries for what we “should” sound like or the types of songs we “should” write, so we’ve been free to experiment. I think that is what made Formative Years so much fun to make, and hopefully what makes it fun for people to listen to.
Klay: I was wracking my brain, and that sounds better than any bullshit I could have come up with. LOL

Insights on national & global activism that is super important & effective?
If you aren’t already doing it, words must be backed with action. If you aren’t already doing it, we must stand in solidarity across multiple issues. Listen and learn. Educate. You are a leader. Be gentle, but firm.
