Her Harbour
Behold Her Harbour’s Mike Dubue edited video for “Hewing Crowns” that borrows evocative footage from the 1966 short Silent Snow, Secret Snow from Conrad Aiken. Emotions are strained & pained as Gabrielle Giguere sings out her heart with choral chamber qualities that reverberate throughout where the icy cold feeling of winter encompasses your entire consciousness. Found off her sophomore album Go Gently Into the Night available via E-Tron Records on February 3, Gabrielle provided the following reflections on “Hewing Crowns” and her forthcoming second record:
Go Gently Into the Night is about cycles. I wrote the songs at a time where death felt omnipresent. This album has been my attempt at making peace with death as a character of growing importance in my life. “Hewing Crowns” is the oldest song on the album. I chose it as the opening track and first release as I felt it introduced the space from which I started writing Go Gently Into the Night and that it could serve as a preface to the demons I attempted to quell in making the album.
