The first single from Sarah P.’s forthcoming solo album debut Who Am I—”Berlin During Winter”—gets remixed by Holly that entertains new atmospheres & cadences of found field sounds & a host of other delights. New organic rhythms arise into the mix as Sarah’s delivery is graced with new ambient elements that further the feeling of a winter spent & experienced in the city of Berlin. Holly’s rework discovers new passages to escape to where the feeling of escaping the ensuing pressures of the callous world finds a cradle of sanctuary that is away from the unforgiving harbingers of misfortune. Sarah P. shared the the following reflections on the remix in the following letter:
Today, I’m writing to share with you a piece of sunshine. Holly, a very talented young man from Portugal, reworked Berlin During Winter and gave it a South European treatment. And it got sunny and summery—definitely nostalgic and eerie. It lost its rocky edge, but for a very reassuring beat and calming piano melody that’s embracing the words and the feelings. “Berlin During Winter” is not depressive now—it’s just melancholic, like a beautiful girl with dark lips and a nonchalantly empty look. But she’s got more to it, the song’s got more to it. As I wrote in my previous letter to you, “Berlin During Winter” is about all those things that I cannot wrap around my head. I ask you to take a moment and think of all the things that you cannot understand. All those things that are happening in the world and upset you, annoy you or leave you in shock. […] My solidarity goes to all of you who feel confused and disoriented. We’ll always have Berlin during winter.
