Post Animal
Today we present you with a listen to Post Animal’s anticipated new album When I Think Of You In A Castle available today from Polyvinyl. A record predominately created back in 2016 during the summer season at a Watervliet, Michigan lake house would bring about new realizations for the group that expounds upon their ouevre that includes releases like Post Animal Perform The Most Curious Water Activities & The Garden Series. The Chicago band’s own Dalton Allison, Matt Williams, Jake Hirshland, Wesley Toledo, Javi Reyes & Joe Keery shared the following exclusive introduction to the new album in their own words:
When I Think Of You In A Castle is a sonic exploration of all of our musical interests. To be simple, we [Post Animal] had a ton of fun making the record, and we hope that transcends to those who listen. We are earnest at heart, endlessly in search of making something that we all enjoy and that we hope you all enjoy. Let all emotions hit you, there’s no one way to listen and experience things in this life! With that we leave you with a sweet, stable poem:
Welp, the CD is finally out. Nothing left to worry about. It’ll make you laugh, it’ll make you cry, it’ll make you question who and why. Whether you be a dunce in the corne, or a nerd on top, keep those ears popped for rock. The compact discs have hit the shelves, someone alert Santa and his elves. Or go buy the damn thing yourselves.
When I Think Of You In A Castle grants the audience an entrance into the fortress of Post Animal’s own creation. The opener “Everywhere All at Once” sets the stage neatly right before diving into the ripper “Gelatin Mode” that blends into psych-sidewinding “Tire Eyes”, riding high with “Ralphie” to the heavy metallic heart shaped-box of “Heart Made of Metal”. Post Animal keeps the fantasias for the ear & mind cooking on “Castle”, delivering the majestic alchemy of “Special Moment”, running the rounds on “Victory Lap: Danger Zone”, before floating sky-high on “One Thing” right as the band brings it all back down to the earth on the grounding rhythm jam of “Dirtpicker”. The album to accompany your next mystic voyage has arrived, earth people.
