NYC dream pop maestro unveils captivating new single off upcoming LP yoyo
Get ready to be swept away by the enchanting dream pop sounds of A Beacon School‘s latest single “Alone,” accompanied by a captivating lyric video. The track, mixed by Sonny DiPerri (known for his work with MBV, Trent Reznor, M83, DIIV), is another glimpse into their forthcoming LP yoyo, set to drop on October 13th under the Grind Select label (you can pre-order it HERE).
“Alone” carries a hopeful message, as Patrick J. Smith, the creative force behind A Beacon School, explains: “‘Alone’ is about the moment when you feel like your luck is finally turning. Nothing’s been going your way, so when you catch the faintest glimmer of hope you grab on to it as tight as you can.”
Following his adored debut album Cola, Smith looks to delve even deeper into his sonic exploration with yoyo. This upcoming album comprises ten tracks that wade into the realms of indie rock, shoegaze, dream pop, and even a detour into lo-fi house (as evidenced by the swooning electronic anthem “Jon”), while parsing the ever-shifting nature of time.
A Beacon School’s musical journey began in 2009, and since then, Smith has been crafting his unique sound – through a self-titled debut EP in 2012 and his association with acts like Modern Rivals and Bluffing. Cola brought him even more recognition, boasting a diverse range of musical styles that captured the hearts of listeners worldwide. I’ve now heard five of yoyo‘s ten tracks, and I can tell it’s gonna be A Beacon School’s most expansive release yet.
