Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, "The Coronation of X aTunde Adjuah"

Post Author: Andre G

Critically-lauded Jazz musician Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah has decided to express his feelings on America’s socio-political plight with no words at all. Adjuah is currently working on a Centennial Trilogy, a three-part project which is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first Jazz recordings – as well as providing, “a sobering re-evaluation of the social political realities of the world through sound.”
Ruler Rebel, set to be released tommorow, is the first offering in the collection. Today, Adjuah has dropped “The Coronation of X aTunde Adjuah” to prep people for the ambitious project. The 5-minute track showcases Adjuah collaborating with flutist Elena Pinderhughes over rapid-fire, hip-hop influenced percussion. A rhymer could easily drop a sharp 16 over Adjuah’s diasporic drum canvas, but instead Pinderhughes’ flute play gloriously floats over it, playing to the song’s title with a shrill, first-rate fervor.
