L.A. musician enchants with new psychedelic dream pop stunner
Lately we’ve become huge fans of up-and-coming L.A. indie musician Dorvin Borman and his penchant for bleary, thought-provoking soundscapes. Earlier this summer he dropped a couple excellent singles (“Everyone Lied” and “Feel You, Feel Me”), and today he returns with another new one, the woozy and poignant stunner “Moonflower.”
Pulsating bass riffs give way to a swirl of reverb-soaked synth and guitar melodies, conjuring languid, pensive dream pop vibes. It’s a shimmering psychedelic-leaning track that captures a mounting anxiety and paranoia over the state of the world. Here, the narrator channels both inspiration and jealousy for the moonflower’s ability to bloom in darkness, with Borman pondering his own ability to thrive in such times of chaos and unrest:
“Moonflower/ I count the days/ Write down dreams/ Burn all the waste/ Envy the patience in your eyes/ I think about crossing the line/ all of the time”
