Portland-based Fine Animal have partnered with Sarob on the new track “Imitator”, which is a fusion of dream pop and hip hop, with smart and political lyrics that force you to think. Centered primarily around Sarob’s lyrics and rapping, “Imitator” is dynamic and provocative in the best way. In one moment, Sarob sings: “Shit I’m black in America–I ain’t scared of no terrorism/Police packin like severance/Fire off if u trippin.” Layered delicately and dreamily with Lucy Oaks’ vocals and languidly crafted key playing, “Imitator” showcases’ the young group’s breadth as artists and poets.
Keep up with Fine Animal here and Sarob here.
