Nicole Rodriguez is a singer/songwriter always drawing inspiration from the road ahead. Recording and performing under the name Pearla, the young artist recently released a debut EP, If You’re Not Alright Now, which had taste-makers comparing her style to Alanis Morisette and Ani DiFranco.
Now, Pearla is back with “Somewhere,” a stand-alone single that teases an album due in early 2018. The track evokes early Sylvan Esso with sparse, twinkling keys setting up an ever-building electronic swirl leading to a stunning crescendo.
“‘Somewhere’ is about feeling like a child and being completely thrown off by the real world,” Rodriguez shares. “It’s about feeling lost and out of control, but trying desperately to trust the universe.”
