As neo-psychedelic collective Shadowgraphs – the core of which is comprised of Bryan Olson and Charles Glade (Wils) – rev up for the release of their album Venomous Blossoms on April 7th, we’ve got a sneak peak of what’s to come with the exclusive premiere of their track “Eastern Holidays”.
Says Wils Glade of the track:
The song is about falling asleep on a train and landing in an amazing eastern country that wouldn’t be anyone’s first place to visit when heading to Europe. A lot of the tourist destinations are Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, etc. but Croatia, and Budapest for instance are amazing, beautiful, and much cheaper. It’s a real holiday going there, paying under a dollar for coffee and alcohol while enjoying miraculous views and beautiful culture. Also there aren’t as many western cultural influences dipping that far east, which allows one to disconnect from one’s usual lifestyle much easier. Again a true holiday, which is what the whole song is about.
No matter what “Eastern Holidays” is about, the track pulls us into the past with its 60’s-inspired instrumentals and lightweight vocals. The mid-tempo flow of it all gets the hips swaying, as the listener is captivated by the guitar work and slight twang that stitches every aspect of the song together, like a worn and storied string of golden thread.
