SBTRKT, “New Dorp, New York” (ft. Ezra Koenig)

Post Author:

SBTRKT is back with a brand new homage to Manhattan, the first single from upcoming Young Turks release, Wonder Where We Land. Appropriately dubbed “New Dorp, New York,” it’s one of the strangest earworms to come from the masked super-producer thus far.

Alternating between classic club thumps and clattering percussion, it’s a hustle-bustle track that waxes poetic about the city that never sleeps. Helped out by vocals from Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, who croons “my girl got a city to run,” “New Dorp, New York” is a real suave, spoken word jam that’s a funk-filled experiment in sound.

And while we just have a radio rip for now, there’s something about the tune that mimics the vibe of a sticky New York summer almost too well. Check out all the clatter from your perch at “the Top of the Rock.”
