A uniquely dazzling visual from the Oslo-based hyperpop outfit
There aren’t too many acts out there quite like Oslo’s Tacobitch, a synth-heavy band employing powerful visuals and a drag aesthetic to complement their powerful, punk-spirited rave music. Having lived in a toxic household, they channel their rage through their music and have formed an irreplaceable bond.
Speaking on forming the band, they shared: “Five of us used to live together, and that house had a really toxic environment. No-one was safe, everyone was a bitch. One day one of us had some tacos for dinner. He was, then, a tacobitch. But now, we are all tacobitches. And we have never been closer. Our agenda has been to completely merge music, dance and costume visuals into new exalted practices and expressions. We see it as musicians being dancers and dancers being musicians, we don’t see ourselves as separated performers – and if people who experience us have a lot of fun and leave with some unanswered questions, we’re happy.”
Their new single “Haijamen” is an emphatic mix of techno, rave, hyperpop and punk. Building from a leftfield vocal sample, the track segues into an irresistible bass groove. You can give it a spin and watch the unique, high-concept music video below.
