French band blends shoegaze and indie pop on catchy new single
Tapeworms are an up-and-coming band hailing from Lille who have been crafting a unique brand of sheogazy indie pop over the last few years. Their debut album Funtastic, which dropped in 2020, lived up to its title in every way. Now the trio has dropped the catchy new track “Puzzle,” the first single off their in-the-works sophomore LP, which is set to be released sometime in 2024 via Music Website.
“Puzzle” seamlessly blends buoyant electronic pop sounds with layers of reverb, with singer Margot’s soothing vocals steering the ship. There’s a dash of breakbeat in the percussion, punctuated with swelling shoegaze guitar and propulsive synth melodies. It’s a bittersweet sonic tapestry ready-made for the languid nostalgia of the summer days ahead.
