Last year Parisian psych-pop band Tara King th. entered our radar with an intoxicating cassette on Moon Glyph entitled, Uncolored Past (Pt. I & II). It was an out of time record reminiscent of Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin set to Middle Eastern psych rock. Tara King th. return with a conceptual album entitled Hirondella et Beretta, a soundtrack to a fictitious film that looks to merge the worlds of grindhouse and debonair spy film.
The plot to Hirondella et Beretta may only be learned by purchasing the cassette, which features photos that inspired Tara King th.'s sonic narrative. The concept is an expansive undertaking, but Tara King th. sound as though they're trained specifically to this style of marrying noir with psych to create a cool lounge vibe that's wet with the blurred lines between sex and danger.
Tara King th.'s Hirondella et Beretta CS is out now on Moon Glyph.
