The last release from Trust Fund, the Bristol band of Ellis Jones, was the golden (literally) split with pals Joanna Gruesome. Since then, the band has gone on tour with Los Campesinos and have began releasing singles from their debut album No One’s Coming For Us, out through Turnstile on February 9th. Following a first single, “Cut Me Out” (which has a great doggy-filled video), “Essay To Write” continues to prove that Ellis has one of the most interesting voices around. In “Essay To Write,” there is hope that a relationship will ideally be happier following exams but also the assurance that, “If it still feels weird then we can just break up / There will be another for both of us.” The scenario is not necessarily promising, but his falsetto explains it gently and lovingly.
