For all the festivals out there these days (and there are literally hundreds), few can boast such quality and inspired lineups as Chicago's Neon Marshmallow Fest. Now on it's third installment, Matt Kimmel, aka Acid Marshmallow, is putting the finishing touches on a stellar lineup set to blast off on Nov. 15-18 at the Burlington. The experimental fest boarders on fringe, but that's an unrealistic tag for a lineup that boasts the likes of Thurston Moore, Julian Lynch, MV&EE, Guardian Alien, Pelican's Trevor de Brauw and more.
Always a stalwart for the stellar, Kimmel has spent most of 2012 bouncing between curation duties in Brooklyn and Chicago, so this year's Neon Marshmallow comes a few months later than it has in year's past. Just a perfect excuse for a late-fall visit to Chicago before the Great lakes freeze over and the city becomes uninhabitable to those of us with normal levels of skin-thickness.Festival passes are currently available for $60, which gives you entry all four shows and one hour of PBR open bar each night. Still no word if Matt will be providing high-quality tapes of the event like in 2011, but your pass will get you MP3s from the night's performers.
