Acclaimed, though much-maligned Canadian indie-rock band Viet Cong pledged to change their name in September of last year, stating that their “band name is not our cause, and we are not going to fight for it.” Now, a mere seven months later—or six months shorter than the Tet Offensive—we’re finally learning what their new name will be.
Earlier this week, FYF Fest announced their lineup featuring a bevy of heavy hitters, including headliners Kendrick Lamar, LCD Soundsystem, Grace Jones, and Tame Impala, alongside acts like Air, Andy Stott, ANOHNI joined by Oneohtrix Point Never, Beach House, Blood Orange, and DIIV, among others. Also included in the lineup is the band formerly known as Viet Cong.
They may be hard to spot among all the names, given the new moniker, but we’ll give you a hint: they’re the one named Viet Cong.
FYF Fest will take place August 27-28 at Los Angeles’ Exposition Park.
