The Linda Lindas–the SoCal band who became viral video stars for their song “Racist, Sexist Boy” in 2021 when the members were all between 10 and 16 years old–played the Fillmore in San Francisco on March 21st as part of their biggest headlining tour to date. Since forming in 2018 for what was originally one-off performance, the band have opened for the Rolling Stones and gone on tours opening for Paramore and Green Day. While the Fillmore show was their largest Bay Area venue as headliners, the last time the band were in town, they were playing a baseball stadium. So it was no surprise that the legendary SF venue was packed on a Friday night, largely with school-aged kids and their parents.
Opening the show was the Nashville garage rock band Be Your Own Pet, who reunited in 2021 after a 14-year hiatus (the band formed in 2003, before any members of the Linda Lindas were even born.) After releasing their critically-acclaimed debut in 2006 and second Get Awkward in 2008, the band didn’t play a show again until 2021, when Jack White invited them to open a few dates on his tour. The band eventually signed to White’s Third Man Records, and released their third record, Mommy, in 2023.
