Spanish indie rock band Hinds were back in the Bay Area for the second time in five months on March 23rd, out on tour in support of their fourth record, Viva Hinds. At their last area show, at the Chapel last October, guitarist/singer Ana García Perrote had recently broken her foot and was wearing a walking boot. Fully healed, she joined her bandmates–singer/guitarist Carlotta Cosials and touring members bassist Paula Ruiz and drummer Maria Lázaro–in an extremely raucous and fun evening. Toward the end of the show, Perrote lifted Cosials onto her shoulders for half a song. Later, the two lept into the crowd as Perrote spun Cosials around on her shoulders to the delight of the crowd.
Atlanta-based indie rock band Mamalarky opened the show, with singer/guitarist Livvy Bennett joining Hinds onstage for the closing number, a cover of Thee Headcoats’ “Davey Crockett.”
