On Friday, August 3rd, Janka Nabay and and the Bubu Gang, his international band which pulls members from Syria to Hawaii, played their record release show at 285 kent, performing steady afro-rhythms for over an hour to a packed and appreciative audience.
Opening was Uumans who had a bassheavy sound but lilting voice rounded out with synchronized dancers, Helado Negro who returned to us from Ecuador, the home of his parents. His soft voice and pleasent textured melodies filled 285 with the sun an warmth of a billiant summer's day.
