Metallica recorded a special concert in early August, and released it to drive-in movie theaters across the country on August 29th. The band hadn’t played a show since last year’s two dates to open the Chase Center in San Francisco, and kept the recording of the show secret. The band and crew quarantined and were tested for COVID-19 regularly before recording the show at the Gundlach Bundschu Winery in Sonoma, CA, about an hour north of San Francisco, on August 10th.
