Impose has your exclusive look at the premiere of Alu’s new video for “Nemesis” from her upcoming album Mrs. Hypochondriac which is set for an October 14 release. The video for “Nemesis” is a beautifully haunting look at love and relationships through a series of clips taken from films of yesteryear. As the song winds and waltzes along, the brief vignettes at time sync with the lyrics showcasing their meaning as well as the disconnect between cultural norms of the not so distant past with the reality of the present.
There is an overall gothic whimsy to the video that is certainly perfect for autumn as the world gets a little less of the bright technicolor of the video’s opening scene and more of the sepia tones that wash through the remainder of “Nemesis”. There is also a sardonic humor to the video that is not surprising for a song from an album made following Alu’s marriage, divorce, and MS diagnosis. Instead of staying mired in the darkness of her situation, Alu and fellow producer and multi-instrumentalist Gabe Morley have crafted a song in “Nemesis” that highlights the absurdity of the past, both recent and distant, while gamely looking forward to the future.
