Jonny P was born and raised back in the Bronx, and is a singer/songwriter and performer, now calling Nashville, Tennessee, home. In addition to music, Jonny P recently wrapped his first acting role in an upcoming film by director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal (who won Oscars for The Hurt Locker), a fictionalized chronicle of the Detroit riots of 1967.
“I’m no expert on love, I actually feel like I’m just beginning to scratch the surface of its great mystery,” admits Jonny. “‘Say I Do’ to me is the meat and potatoes of what love and wanting to spend the rest of your life with someone would sound like . The almost primal desire to protect, provide and adore someone. That’s what I want people to channel when they hear it.”
“Say I Do” is lifted from Jonny’s forthcoming EP, being released next month on April 21st via Big Picnic Records. You can see another track off the EP, “It’s Our Time”, below:
On the EP, Jonny P was able to work with producer Tom Elmhirst (Adele, Frank Ocean, Jamie XX, Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson) and James Gadson (Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Herbie Hancock, Beck, BB King, Jamie Lidell) on drums.
You can find some of Jonny’s P’s music here, and also at SXSW where he’ll be playing 4 showcases.
