Lowla, “Those Days Are Gone”

Post Author: Meredith Schneider

Electro pop duo Lowla – Lara and Lo – have been making music – and donning ridiculous amounts of denim – to rave reviews. Inspired largely by the pop days of the nineties, their music is infectious and well composed. Their new EP Walls was released recently, and we’ve got the exclusive premiere of the music video for their single “Those Days Are Gone”.

Shot in black and white, the video showcases a handful of teenagers riding their bicycles together along a dirt road. Slowed down to achieve maximum dramatic effect, what we ultimately gather from the video is the fact that the simple days of casual bike rides with friends in the summertime are largely gone. The song itself is bittersweet, and the video reaches a point where the group of teens are seen in a different light. They’re all wearing bandanas on their faces, setting smoke bombs and riding through as if in the throes of war.

It’s a significant – and necessary – commentary on the loss of innocence.

Lowla’s EP Walls is out now via DIY.
