Montreal’s newfound guitar pop quintet PHERN – comprised of Hélène Barbier, Ben Lalonde, Christian Simmons, Sarah Haag, and Michael Wright – has been hard at work on their upcoming debut full-length, cool coma. It’s out just after Thanksgiving in the U.S., but we’ve got a sneak peek with the new music video for their single “Samantha”.
Shot by Chelsea Sweetin and edited by none other than Barbier, the video looks as though it originated decades ago, as the bandmembers walk through hallways covered in what could be mosquito netting, but flows like trash bags. It gets ridiculous – and quite hilarious, actually – when you find them playing their instruments in a dimly lit room, surrounded by glowing candles as if they’re part of a ritual… or some really strange foreplay.
cool coma is out November 25th. It is available for preorder via Bandcamp and Fixture Records.
