The only thing that could make industry “it-boy” Shamir even more lovable is a smiling, dancing puppet that looks just like him down to his high-top dreads. In the video single for “Call It Off” Shamir morphs into a Jim Henson-style puppet who espouses contempo wisdom like “no more basic ratchet guys” and inspires the shoppers-turned-puppets at a Vegas mall to break into a deliriously happy flash mob. “Call It Off” is the second single from Shamir’s forthcoming full-length LP Ratchet dropping May 19 from XL Records. The video was directed by Philip Hodges as the official video for Youtube Music Awards. Watch it above.
