“Places” is the title track off the upcoming third studio album for The National Parks. The band – consisting of Brady Parks, Sydney Macfarlane, Megan Taylor, John Hancock, and Cam Brannelly – has been hard at work on this album, even as they squeezed in a full slate of appearances at SXSW and some live shows this spring.
“Places” is an infectious tune with lyrics that speak to everyone. Even if you aren’t someone who has extensively travelled, you have certainly had extensive experiences in your life and “Places” expresses that feeling. “From broken hearts to jubilees, and those I know and that I’ll meet, It’s a part of me”.
Elaborates Brady Parks:
Eventually I took the idea head on and wrote “Places” and it felt like I finally found a way to articulate what I’d been feeling for a while. It also opened the door to the idea of “place” being more than just geographical (we often talk about being at a certain place in our lives or in an emotional place) and all of it shapes us as people in ways that we usually don’t understand while we’re in it. And that’s become the umbrella concept that ties the whole (forthcoming) album together. Each track sort of plays with the idea of real places and people and how I can see now that they’ve shaped me in significant ways.
