DJ Ruckus Roboticus remixed Bloc Party's “Hunting For Witches” and turned it into a Halloween death march through the city with torches and shotguns — a song that got me through a grueling run this morning. (Yes, I carried a torch. No, I am not training for the Olympics. I just like torches.)
He released a sample heavy, collage of childrens' records over funky breaks solo album called Playing With Scratches, which is a must hear for anyone who thinks sample-based instrumental hip hop is far from finished and Rjd2 has a weird fetish with hipsters or refuse to follow DJ Shadow into hyphy land.
w he has remixed Impose's favorite heel… Vampire Weekend.
Mr. Roboticus has turned the Paul Simon drum circle of “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” into a Fela Kuti afro-big beat party. It does not have the building energy of the Bloc Party remix nor the shotgun blasts, but it makes great background music to a backyard barbecue. Just in time for the fourth of July.
