Recently, British Columbia’s very own singer/composer Andrew Judah released his latest EP, Metanoia, Pt. VII. An incredible feat, the four track work is a swirling beauty of a collection. Even with the slow pace of first track “Benny Confronts a Dragon”, you still feel like you’re in the middle of this strange and beautiful cacophony of instrumentals, floating you upwards. “Metanoia” is featured below, which has the most upbeat melody of them all, plunging you into a 80s/90s nostalgia with its pop sound. While “My Shadow” brings a darker atmosphere with it, final track “Live” swings into more of a 60s sphere in its sound.
Andrew has accomplished genre-bending in the most satisfying of lights. Says Andrew of this major feat:
I wanted to see what would happen when I removed the luxury of time from my creative process. The first six EPs were written, recorded and released on a very tight deadline, one EP per month from June-November of 2016. It was a sort of musical journal for me. Both the music and the lyrics reflect changes I was going through at the time.The seventh and final EP took me a lot longer to make. The process of writing and recording the first six EPs had completely burnt me out. Ironically, I got writer’s block. It took me awhile to get over that, but eventually, I did.Metanoia, Pt. VII was written for the fans who have been following along. It ties the whole series together and brings it to a close. I’m very proud of it.
