From Brooklyn, Lizard Kisses is a band with many exciting things happening. Their record, Not Seeing Is A Flower, was released yesterday, and features contributions by friends from Mutual Benefit, Florist, The Spookfish, and many more. As if that wasn’t enough, they’re about to embark on a tour in Japan for two weeks with Of Montreal and Noble Oak. Their track titled “The Ascent” is one of our favorites off the new album. Even though it is a shorter song, at only a minute and 49 seconds long, it still makes a major impact.
“The Ascent” is serene. The vocals are clear and hypnotic and gorgeous. The background is made up of sustained chords that gently move and give the piece life. This song is simple but so very pretty, and at the end, it decrescendos and ends almost suddenly, and you’re sitting there in silence, expecting more but nothing comes. The simplicity of this song is refreshing, and it’s definitely worth a listen.
Lizard Kisses recorded a video of a live performance of two of their new songs, “Nothing Left” and “Sunrise”. Take a peak at it – and their riveting live performance experience – below.
