The first time we caught a Black Hollies show we were perhaps a little distracted by their threads and the sensation that Cake Shop had just turned into some London dive from the 60s and we were not dancing like Sting in Quadrophenia .
But then a time comes when a band sends you their vinyl and everything starts to make sense: Black Hollies are classy, right down to the old school hole in their 45, the stalwart use of psychedelic type-faces and “Gloomy Monday Morning”, a song that may have something to do with taking the Path train for these Jersey boys. We can't give it away for download, but you check it out at their Myspace and order the vinyl cheaply at Safety Meeting.
