It's been a while since Cough Cool released his sophomore album, 29, and though that delay comes with the kind of anticipation Dan Svizeny is good at brewing before an inevitable third full-length, his voice and sludge have been sorely missed. On a new track, “It's Beautiful”, Svizeny shows his talents once again for creating a deep, tangled net of sonics that overlay in impossible ways. The only crisply-heard element is a jangly guitar that ends each line with a bell-like ring, while Svizeny's vocal lines of repeated “whoa-oh”s are subtle and hypnotic, as per usual.
“It's Beautiful” comes from a forthcoming self-titled EP cassette out on Mirror Universe this fall.
