Not since the indie-rap hey day of the early Noughties have I paid much attention to the Boston rap scene. Somewhere around Edan's Beauty And The Beat and before The Perceptionists' record I lost interest. I do recall being rather impressed though by a guest appearance from Dagha on Edan's “Rock and Roll” from that album.
Flashforward to now, it turns out Dagha is two albums deep in quality output for me to catch up on. The Divorce, which was released in 2008, is most likely where I'll begin my exploration, as I cannot think of another hip hop record bold enough to explore the intricacies of a divorce.
Much like the rawness I enjoyed on “Rock and Roll,” Dagha is still bringing that heavy mental on his newest collaboration with producer Psych Major. “Wildfellow” rides an off-kilter bounce, doom lasers and a looped Inspectah Deck sample. The duo's EP will feature appearances from Smoothe Da Hustler, Lil Dap of Group Home and Al Jabra.
