Dedekind Cut (fka Lee Bannon) and Rabit prep EP

Post Author:

Tri-Angle artist Rabit and shape-shifter Lee Bannon, known as Dedekind Cut here, announced a collaborative EP. The self-released four track EP is described as “a industrial fusion of ourselves” and the Side A streaming below illustrates that description.

Titled “r&d”, the EP mints genre expansion like “rhythm & destruction” or “rhythm & degradation”. For BBC radio host Maryanne Hobbs the reaction is immediate, “mind blown.” And with good reason. The tail end of “r&dii” offers reprieve from the iron jungle of industrial dissonance and machine gun percussion. Rabit and Dedekind Cut are invisible as individuals throughout Side A and much of it collides in vignettes. “r&dii” is especially corroded as it pulverizes and warps. But the mind fuck of those pistons and distorted wails is a necessary precursor for the rhythmic suite of filtered r&b crooning over a head-nodding breakbeat. It’s the sweet spot and its properly buried in the space between grooves.

Preorder the digital “r&d” EP on Bandcamp. Limited edition vinyl will be pressed later this year.
