You may have heard by now that one of America’s best kept secret music towns in Asbury Park, NJ has been experiencing a revival of sorts over the past few years. At the forefront of that movement has been indie-rockers Dentist who last year released an excellent second LP, Ceilings.
Since then, Dentist has been out gigging hard on tours across the U.S. and Canada as their profile continues to rise outside of the Jersey Shore. To usher in the Summer and a new era as they bid adieu to Rudy Meier (drums) and Nick Kaelblein (bass), the band fronted by Emily (vox, guitar) and Justin Bornemann (lead guitar) now share a standalone single, “The Latter.”
The track is a perfect slice of everything that makes Dentist’s surf-pop sound so enticing as Emily’s vocals ride over Justin’s furious fret work and Rudy and Nick’s driving, locked in rhythms. Ride the wave below.
Ceilings is out now via Little Dickman Records. Catch Dentist on June 8th at Lantern Hall during Northside Festival or on June 19th at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park.
