Donnis, Fashionably Late mixtape cover

The long awaited mixtape from XXL Freshman Issue coverboy Donnis is finally out.

It's got quite a few bangers, but it also has those slow Drake-esque emotional raps that seem to be ruining the mixtape game right now. It opens with a fast-paced psych beat on “Corries Outro” then goes to a southern club banger with a great beat but terrible hook. “More Fire” uses the “we don't need no water let that motherfucker burn” hook that has been used about as many times as hipster boys have used Sasha Grey flicks when they come home from two-fer Tuesday by themselves.

The first half of the mixtape seems much stronger than the last half but luckily for us there are bonus tracks. One of those is featuring OJ Da Juiceman with production by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. If this song doesn't get the party going then you need to go elsewhere because you must be surrounded by straight bustas.

Regardless of some of the weak emo rap on here and the mandatory mixtape bullshit skits, this is a strong mixtape from an up and coming star. It's also a plus that Donnis was never on a Canadian teen drama.
