An exploration of some important issues. On Strings
Jamie Cruickshank describes his work as “an experimentation on strings”. Originally from Bristol, England, Jamie is heavily influenced by folk music from the British Isles and Appalachia. Basing his songwriting on experiences of family, change, and mathematics into song, he aims to create musical landscapes, as well as thought-provoking tracks.
His work is starting to bear fruit. As a solo artist he’s performed for SOFAR, WOMAD, Farmfest and he’s supported artists such as Lucy Dacus, James Yorkston, and Mishka Shubaly. As the lead guitarist and vocalist for Gnarwhals and Human Bones he’s performed at the Shambala Festival among others in the UK.
Since his last single was received to a smattering of critical praise, his new “Loserville” (Available Now) provides a full-band counterpoint to his acoustic debut, displaying his wide-ranging musical background and influences as he sings of his experience of the devastating effects of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
