All the way from Germany comes “Driven,” the latest collaboration of production duo JR & PH7 and New Jersey trio St. Joe Louis. This is the second track from the team in a week, with the rock-influenced, Rah-Digga blessed “Duck Duck Goose” being released on Monday. Both tracks are singles from the upcoming Coral Cadavers album, described over e-mail as a “a neo-noir psychological thriller about a woman’s descent into moral ambiguities” in LA.
On “Driven,” the trio takes turns telling a winding story about the wayward woman who’s “driven to suicide as long it’s a Bugatti,” chasing a dangerous road. The men take turns dishing visceral, narrative building lyrics over mysterious xylophones and an epic, saxophone-driven chorus. Equally momentous is Roc Marciano‘s presence on the track to drop his perspective, complete with a beautifully random Yasser Arafat reference.
Coral Cadavers is set to be released this June. You can stream “Driven” below.
