Little Girls is the bedroom project of Josh McIntyre, a sonic adventurer and unashamed fan of Beach House's Teen Dream.
McIntyre sings to the erection of a monolithic “10 Mile Stereo” on this cover. The build of his song feels like the ascension to a roof of clouds for the divine structure that will blare out sonics heard thousands of miles in the direction it faces, trembling skyscrapers and obelisks like tuning forks.
Victoria Legrand's smokey croon caters to the subversive pop of her band mates, sung like a national anthem to the commonwealth of “10 Mile Stereo,” where as McIntyre recognizes how insignificant he is in comparison to such a magnificent edifice. He probably doesn't have Legrand's chops, thus the buried vocals, but that's the point of a cover – to alter the perspective of found material with the hope it will unveil a new world.
Little Girls will
play several shows at this year's SXSW and beyond, including the Paper
Bag Records/Chromewaves party and Todd P's MtyMx All Ages Festival Of
Art And Music in Mexico.
