Start your year off with some excellently unhinged energy by streaming the new EP from Portland’s PMS 84, who put out a raging demo of gnarly UK ’82-influenced hardcore in 2014. On this newest, self-titled EP, their sound is both tighter and less predictable, making this a sort of six-minute roller-coaster: the stampeding rhythm section keeps control over a sound that feels like it still might fly off the rails at any point. Even those of us who have traded our perfectly charged hair and multiple bullet belts for the business casual masquerade will find a lot to love here.
“PMS” stands, in this case, for “Punk Means Something”. You can stream PMS 84 below.
