San Diego indie rock band drops groovy, soaring new single

Over the last few years, the San Diego band Creature Canyon has been making waves in the local scene and beyond with their buoyant, sun-soaked blend of indie rock and alternative pop. Last fall they released their excellent debut LP Remarks, and they were recently nominated for a San Diego Music Award for Best Indie/Alternative Artist.

Now the group – comprised of Austin Steele, Ryan Amyot, Kyle Victoria, Aaron Lund, and Luc Fralic – have dropped a brand new single, which we are beyond stoked to premiere. “Impatient” is a groovy blues-tinged indie track fastened through shimmering synths, buoyant guitar riffs, breezy harmonies, and lead singer Steele’s soothing, soulful croon. The verses are concise and catchy – full of poignant lyricism – and building to choruses that absolutely soar with instrumental propulsion and emotion.

“We just waste our time/ With money and a taste of cheap red wine/ I’m losing control, it’s taking its toll/ Not goin’ away,” Steele sings over pulsating rhythms and noodling guitar and synths notes. It’s a track that’s both dancey and deeply reflective all at once – a perfect listen for the onset of summer.

Additionally, Creature Canyon are set to play a big show at Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach on May 18 along with fellow San Diego artists Veni Sun and Peach Cooler. You can purchase tickets for that show HERE, give new track “Impatient” a spin below:
