“Not In Luv” by New Paltz twee-rockers Quarterbacks is a short and sweet anti-love song that draws on Unicorns weirdo-pop with heart-beat drums beneath a plucked and twangy melody. In only one minute, the track denounces love while somehow managing to capture the playfulness that only love can bring. As a gentle, sing-song voice declares, “I’m not in love with anyone, what’s wrong with me?” it becomes obvious that this in fact a break-up song dressed in restless, indie bravado. “My heart got broken and I barely noticed.” It’s from the trio’s full-band self-titled debut, out in February via Team Love.
